Call For Presenters!

We are presently recruiting presenters for this event! If you or someone at your organization would like to participate we have the following general guidelines for the scope of the symposium. In keeping with our target audience (laboratories, refineries, mines, catalyst manufacturers, re-claimers and consumers) we would like to focus on areas such as:


  • Theory, data reduction and analysis, establishment of performance indicators

  • Common/accepted practices

  • Validation of equipment and practices

  • Case studies of sampling challenges and solutions

  • Advances in equipment and instruments used to monitor sampling processes

  • Difference between sampling primary materials vs secondary materials


  • Fire assay

  • Wet methods

  • Advances in methods and instrumentation

  • Data analysis, LIMS systems

  • Laboratory management practices


  • Pyrometallurgical and/or hydrometallurgical technologies and processes

  • PGM recovery and separations

  • Optimization schemes

  • Equipment advances

Precious Metal Mining:

  • Trends in the industry

  • Engineering case studies

  • Environmental/regulatory challenges


  • Importance

  • Areas of concern and focus for both refineries and mines

  • Challenges of different sample types

Optional Tours, demonstrations and Outings

We are in the process of planning several interesting tours and optional social events such as:

  • A tour of the Colorado School of Mines research mine

  • A tour and demo of the fire assay labs, interactive sampling demonstration

  • A brewery tour and tasting

  • Golf at the Fossil Trace golf course, this may be a Wednesday morning event depending on time
